Big Risk for Migraine Stomach Affected

Big Risk for Migraine stomach Affected

A study of 22 211 young people and young adults in the U.S. show people who have excess weight or belly fat can apparently increase the risk of migraine disease.

There are several factors that could cause a person more prone to migraine, ie age, gender and how the body distributes fat.

Persons aged 20 years to 50 years and have a large waist circumference tend to be more prone to migraine than those who have a small waist.

The results obtained from this study are women who have excess abdominal fat has a risk of migraine by 37 percent compared with 29 percent who do not.

Whereas in males aged 20 years to 55 years with an excess of abdominal fat by 20 percent compared with 16 percent who do not.

For women or men over the age of 55 years, total body fat can not be linked again with a migraine. Because it will reduce the risk of migraine in women aged over 55 years despite having a large waist circumference.

"These results show that by eliminating or reducing fat in the abdomen, may be able to provide benefits to young people who often experience migraine and particularly for women," said Dr. B Lee Peterlin from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, as quoted from HealthDay, Monday (10/26/2009).

Peterlin revealed that men and women have different ways of fat distribution. After experiencing puberty, women are more prone to storing fat deposits on hips and thighs area. However, after menopause, women have more fat in the abdominal area.

For some diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, excess fat around the waist area will become a stronger risk factor than total body fat.

There is nothing wrong if you start now to reduce the fat that accumulate in the stomach in order to avoid the risk of migraine.
