Junk Food Same With Drugs

Junk Food Same With Drugs

The researchers found similarities between junk food and drugs. Both proved equally make opium. People who are accustomed to eating burgers, potatoes, sausage or cake will be tough to stop that habit because the brain has been programmed as the opiate of the food.

Until now people know junk food as junk food high in fat and sugar but little nutrients. But it was not just that, so dangerous, a neurologist, Dr. Paul Kenny to say that junk food with drugs.

"It's been proven, junk food is the opiate that makes a person lose control of eating," Kenny said, as quoted from the Telegraph, Thursday (29/10/2009). Those who ate junk food, according to Kenny will feel the effects of happy, comfortable and quiet that can result if you do not eat opium again.

According to Kenny, this is the first study that links between junk food and drugs, or drugs. "We've found a lot of evidence that shows that junk food as dangerous with drugs," said Kenny.

Researchers found evidence that the foundation is the similarity between the nerves in the brain which is also called as a neurobiological substances. "After review, it turns out the nerves in the brain structures that obese people often eat junk food with people who are addicted to drugs or narcotics," said Kenny.

Dr. Kenny is now working at the Scripps Research Institute Florida's first time doing his research at Guy's Hospital, London using rats. He divided the mice into three groups of experiments.

The first group was given healthy food in large quantities. The second group were fed junk food but it is limited. The third group was given unlimited food junk food, including cheese cakes, bacon and chocolate snacks.

After the study ended, apparently in the third group of rats became obese very quickly while the rats in the first and second groups did not detect any significant differences from initial weight.

Researchers were then trying to do the inspection on the brain of rats from the three groups. Previously, an electrical stimulation given to the functioning of the brain hormone released the giver feel good and comfortable (oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine, pheromones, endorphins, and others).

From there it is known that rat brain in the third group requiring continuous stimulation to issue bearer of the pleasure hormone. While the two rats in other groups, sedikt hormone stimulation alone can make it out.

Researchers hypothesis is that, to achieve the same level of pleasure, the mice who ate junk food turned out to need more stimulation than mice who did not or rarely eat junk food, junk food and that means is the stimulation that leads to addiction. Just as with drugs.

Some special materials used to produce junk food such as certain types of fats and sugars are designed to make consumers want more and added more. It is pointed out that researchers make people addicted. Eating junk food is fine, but self-control are also important.
