Soda Drink Danger Behind labeled 'Zero Calorie'
Excessive calorie intake can cause weight gain. That is the theory that used low-calorie soft drinks producers to sell their products. But did you know that soda labeled 'zero calorie' is actually dangerous?
By exploiting the public consciousness that began to think about calorie intake, soda manufacturers were racing to create products that are not even-calorie low calorie. That is why, outside a zero-calorie sodas are very popular and widely consumed.
As a comparison, one can of regular soda contains 143 calories, whereas a zero-calorie soda cans containing only one calorie. Sounds like a healthy right?
But if you're careful and thorough look at the composition of product packaging, there are big differences between regular sodas and zero calories. Zero-calorie soft drinks contain aspartame or artificial sweeteners, while soda can use the original sugar.
Aspartame has a sweet taste 180 to 200 times higher than normal sugar. In a regulation made by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), aspartame is allowed to use for this type of weight loss beverage.
But apparently some studies showing harmful side effects from aspartame, including dizziness, headaches, mood changes and reactions on the skin, even a low calorie and still can promote weight loss.
Quoted from That's Fit, Tuesday (01/09/2009), a study says that when someone is eating something low in calories, the assumptions embedded in his brain will not eat anything because it keeps the small calorie.
Thus, the appetite would be stimulated and you will eat more. Eating sweet drinks also make a person hooked and want to eat again and again.
Actually there is not a healthy soda, even though it is zero calories. Very few nutrients contained in it, so it is pointless taking them. It is better you choose water, juice, tea or other beverages that are healthier than soft drinks.
